Application Of Silane Coupling Agents In Coating Industry

Silane coupling agents have been widely used as tackifiers for various coatings and inks, including paints and ink suspensions or solutions. The addition of silane coupling agent to vinyl acrylate and epoxy polyurethane coatings can significantly improve their adhesion and anti-aging properties. In the above-mentioned system, the silane coupling agent can be used as a primer or an auxiliary agent, and the effect is satisfactory. Polyurethane coatings have outstanding abrasion resistance, but the intrusion of moisture can cause a rapid decrease in adhesion. If the substrate is primed with a silane coupling agent first, this drawback can be avoided. In order to improve the adhesion of epoxy and polyurethane coatings to various substrates, silane coupling agents can be directly incorporated into the coatings, or used as primers.
